Akim Vann owner of The Bakery on Bergen opened her bakery during the summer of 2014 in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, NY. Akim is a baker, a student life coach and mathematics tutor. The way Akim sees it, baking is mathematical. She draws on the inspiration of her mother, who was a trainer for math teachers and inspired Akim’s love of mathematics & teaching. When Akim’s not whipping up her super moist Award winning, Smoked Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies, Chocolate Sablés, or the popular Mini Rum Cakes, you can find her tutoring mathematics to neighboring kids. Living up to her mantra that her shop is “#More Than A Bakery”
